What’s The Chinese For “Holy S*%T That’s Fast?” And Other Weekly Chatter

Still walking. This week I committed to walk all of my urban errands; it hasn’t hindered me once. I’m not sure if that is because most of my trips are within a mile (15-mins) or if my limited destinations reflect I need to get a life. I’ve cheated twice: a 2 block bike ride home from the shop and I hitched a ride coming home from the bar–my head wasn’t right。Stats since Sunday are to the right, but the intangibles can’t be measuredmore to come.

Weekly Chatter

  • MLUI connects the numbers on rural poverty in Michigan….”It costs more than $11,000 a year per family for transportation in the rural counties surrounding Traverse City…Living without a car could save a lot of money, but doing so while living rurally is almost unthinkable.

To Wrap

Ann Arbor introduces the HAWK signal to an MDOT trunkline. The HAWK, (High-intensity Activated crossWalK) signal is the first of its kind to be installed on a state trunkline in Michigan. It has proven to show substantial improvements in driver awareness of people walking and is a tool I’d like to see used more in northern Michigan, including on our own state trunklines & heavy streets (Division St., Grandview Parkway, Garfield…). Congratulations Ann Arbor; walk slow.

If you made it this far, you deserve the translation to 我靠.

我靠/wǒkào = “Well fuck me!” or “Holy Shit!”.  Holy Shit that’s fast= 我靠! 這就是很快.

Have a Weekend.
