Enforcing Desired Speeds Can Be Fun & Creative

Tuesday Video

VW asked, “can we get more people to obey the speed limit by making it fun to do?” Kevin Richardson came up with an excellent answer.

Division? 8th St. anyone?

Freaking brilliant! Can we get them here? I know speed cameras are illegal in Michigan, so another source of lottery funds would be needed to draw from.

We could do it with a speed gun and instant pay off if we had enough people helping out. One person with a gun, a couple witnesses and some one at the end of the line handing the winners a $20 bill. Not sure how to randomize it though.

THis would be fantastic on 8th st. between Garfield and Union, particularly in the section between Woodmere and Lake AVe, where I see folks get speeding tickets more than once a week. I bet that if we did this for a week or two weeks during the summer, it would have a lasting fun effect. Downside: if everybody slows down, there are no funds to pay the winner!
