Smart commute lots–at your service

…it is greatly appreciated.

Live outside of Traverse city but work in the City? Choose one day next week. Park you car on one of these lots. Walk 15-30 minutes to your destination. Or, bring a bicycle and pedal for 7 minutes to your destination. Or, time it right, and you can conveniently board a BATA bus and chill out for the final 5 minutes to your destination.  Your heart and the neighborhoods you pass through will appreciate it.

Smart Commute Lots via TART Trails

For a list of other Smart Commute Week events, visit TART Trails’ sparkling new Website. Technically, things start tomorrow with the 2nd annual bike swap in the ground floor of the Old Town Parking Garage. Then, next week every morning there are commuter challenge breakfasts around town.

If you’re on Twitter, the # for next week is #SCW12

P.S. I was going to write a rant today, but it will have to wait for another day. However, let it be known that MyWHaT is now one post away from our one-thousandth post.

As I asked early last week, any topic requests for the arbitrary marker of 1000?

Wonder if the club called “Grand Traverse Land Conservancy” got permission from the private business’s like Tom’s, Olesons and the Grant Traverse Mall to have non-patrons use their lots for parking all day while they walk or ride their bikes to work. Oh yeah, it doesn’t matter cause we are saving the Earth.

Yes, all “clubs”, organizations, and businesses involved received permissions to utilize above mentioned parking lots. They likely agreed to not only because they want to support a positive community wide initiative, supported by these sponsors and many others, but they likely realize that when you allow people to park in front of your store, they are likely to become customers. So, yes “saving the earth” can make some people some appreciated green.

I for one am looking forward to riding out on the Mall Trail to get my free Wendy’s Frosty–I don’t expect to save the world with it, but will enjoy it.

Did the political action committee (PAC) called TART approve of this method of moving their political and fundraising smoke sceens forward??
