Walk to school everyday, but really plan on it this Wednesday

International Walk to School Day

International Walk to School Day (SRTS) is this Wednesday, October 3rd. In Traverse City, the elementary school Willow Hill is celebrating their first official International Walk to School Day, perhaps looking back to the golden days when there was no car line.

No matter what school your students go to, Wednesday is a good opportunity for the entire family to walk to school, like the Martin family earlier this morning.

Last month, students in Charlevoix celebrated their own walk to a school day. For families that don’t live near their schools and typically use the car line, this is a good opportunity to park away from the school, spend a little extra time, and walk the last leg. If you’re not able to join your student, Willow Hill is organizing a Walking School Bus, see their website for details.

Is your family participating on Wednesday? Does it already?

Perfect timing for this post! I was just reflecting today on what I ought to do about a series of “use the car line” memos I’d received from my daughter’s school in the past few weeks, and now I know exactly what to do. Gracias!
