Who is your community’s BFB?

Thank you

Underwriter Shout-out

From time to time we like to give a tip of the hat and ding of the bell to the underwriters of MyWHaT. The law-firm Olson, Bzdok & Howard, PC is a new underwriter this year and supporter (if not an inspiration) in one kind or another over the last three years. It’s also a leader in Traverse City as a certified Bicycle Friendly Business. They achieve that award through the League of American Bicyclists’ Bicycle Friendly Business (BFB) program.

According to LAB, OBH is recognized as:

an environmental law firm that strives to continue reducing their carbon footprint by promoting biking and other alternative transportation options. They offer a commuter tax benefit to cyclists who ride to work and provide cash incentives for employees who bike more than 90% of work days. New riders that bike commute 6 work days out of the month earn a free tune up, bike helmet or bike bag/rack. The firm also organizes friendly competitions with cash incentives for the person that bikes the most days to work in a month. The company reimburses employees for purchasing bike bag carriers, baskets or similar items for ease of transporting documents on office errands. The company has a shared cruiser bike that employees are encouraged to use for running errands. They also provide space for employees to keep their bikes after they commute in for the day…

Good work OBH; a silver recognition! Thank you for the support and being a leader in the community. Michigan has only 11 BFBs and you’re the only one north of Grand Rapids.

Is your business a Bicycle Friendly Business?

The BFB program recognizes employers’ efforts to encourage a more bicycle friendly atmosphere for employees and customers. The program honors innovative bike-friendly efforts and provides technical assistance and information to help companies and organizations become even better for bicyclists.

The deadline for the next round of awards is January 11, 2013

Drop us a note if your business is applying or would like assistance creating a benefits program with the goal of applying.
